Gagaku Mask "Batoh"

Bugaku is one of the gagaku performed at the court and is centered around dance. It consists of performances originating from neighboring countries of China and the Korean Peninsula. The front side is a model of Hujin (Western people in China) whose parents were killed by beasts. There is a theory that it originates from the story of ancient India.
The work is a reproduction (half the scale) of the face of the head, which is known for its violent and brave dance in elegant gagaku.
