Keiko Yamaguchi Profile
Growing up in a kimono shop, she was surrounded by bolts of fabric. Self-taught, she has been making dolls for 50 years and has been a cat lover for 23 years. However, she loves to travel, and through interactions with unfamiliar landscapes, people, and materials, she weaves together memories buried deep within her heart to create new stories.
Born in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture in 1953
Graduated from the Graduate School of Painting at Tama Art University in 1978, majoring in Printmaking
1981-2025
Since his first solo exhibition at Gallery Amelia (Tokyo), he has held exhibitions in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara.
40 solo exhibitions in Japan and abroad, including Kobe, Shizuoka, the United States, and Nagoya.
Invited to exhibit in the Department Store Doll Exhibition and numerous group exhibitions.
1985-1993
Moved to the United States and lived in New York.
1987 Became a gallery artist at Julie Artisan Gallery (NY).
Exhibited regularly until the gallery closed in 2013.
1995 Published the collection "Distant Lands, Distant People."
2013 Moved from Nara to Nagoya.
