Nina HIrano

Nina Hirano, a painter from Copenhagen, Denmark, captivates the hearts of many with her unique sense of color and her warm, picture book-like world. She has loved drawing since childhood, and at the age of 19, she moved to the UK, followed by France, where she had the opportunity to meet many renowned artists, gaining inspiration from them.

In 1964, after getting married, she moved to Japan. During her life in Kyoto, she became fascinated by Japanese culture, particularly the colors of kimonos and obi (sashes), which became the foundation of her color expression. Although she began her full-time career as a painter in her late 50s, she continues to energetically create new works to this day.

In recent years, she has held exhibitions at the Funabashi Andersen Park Children’ s Museum and served as a judge for the museum’ s "Kirigami Contest," where she enjoys experiencing the creativity of children.

Currently, she is exhibiting her work at the "Andersen and Children’ s Museum Exhibition 2024" and the "Andersen and the World of Kirigami Exhibition 2024." Even as she grows older, she continues to create new works with boundless passion.
